Soup of Amnesia

Soup of Amnesia- For P-O-Y

The Chinese believe in reincarnation and that when you die, you'll have to cross a bridge, and on that bridge, there are many people, and they represent the levels you have to pass through.

There is one person who is an old lady. She is in charge of making a soup [more like a potion...] to give to the souls to drink, so that they can forget everything. Sad memories, happy memories, embarrassing memories, sweet memories... all your memories.

Would you drink that soup? If yes, what are the things that you want to forget? Explain why.

If no, explain why.

We live our lives day to day and the only thing we have left when everything is said and done are memories. I would not drink from the Soup of Amnesia because if I didn’t have my memories, I would be left with nothing, not a recollection of the things that I have done or experienced.

The things that we live through are the back round for what we have become, if I were to erase the things I have gone through it would be like denying who I am. No matter how sad, depressing or embarrassing a moment may be, it has left a piece of it in you, so if the memory is sad, you may look back and remember the sadness and if it was provoked by something you did, you learn not to do it again, if it was provoked my something someone else did, you learn not to be so trusting of said person, but you also learn forgiveness. Sometimes sad things happen, but you get something good, a good memory in return.

One of my favorite things to do on a lonely day is to remember and look back on the happy and exciting things that have happened in my life, passing by the beach or a house, a lonely road can propel the most beautiful memories, ones that I hope never to forget, the ones that will get me through my loneliness and my depressions. The sad ones I try never to dwell on, but when they do appear, I remember what I have learned, what I never want to forget or experience again.
